Our Parent Fundraising Society has created a link for you to buy tickets for the Super Hero Family Dance. Tickets are $15.00 and include a DJ, a photo booth, games and temporary tattoos. Coupons can also be purchased for items available at the ‘snack shack’. See click here to find details of what is being sold: Family Dance Snack Shack Menu
Only one ticket is required per family. Parents or guardians must be with their children during the dance. (Children cannot attend just with older brothers or sisters and cannot be alone.) Thanks for your understanding!
Click HERE to order your tickets. (Please note, there is a service change associated with Sign Up Genius.)
Once you have placed your ticket order, our parent volunteers will create a baggie for you with your ticket and coupons that we will send home from the school by Thursday, May 14.
This event is a fundraising event so all money over and above the costs associated with the event will be used to purchase new recess equipment. Thank you for your support!
We want to thank the parents doing the hard work in this planning!
CELEBRATING EARTH DAY
Earth Day is a special time to celebrate our beautiful planet and learn how we can take care of it every day. At school, students are exploring ways to reduce waste, save energy, and show kindness to the Earth. We invite families to continue these conversations at home—small actions can make a big difference!
🌱 Simple Ways Families Can Help the Environment at Home
Here are a few easy, kid-friendly ideas to try together:
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Encourage children to recycle paper, plastic, and cans properly, and find creative ways to reuse items like jars or boxes.
- Save Energy: Turn off lights, TVs, and electronics when not in use. Opening the curtains during the day can also help save energy!
- Save Water: Turn off the tap while brushing teeth and take shorter showers.
- Choose Reusable Items: Pack lunches with reusable containers and water bottles instead of single-use items.
- Get Outside: Take a walk, plant flowers or vegetables, or clean up litter in your neighborhood or a local park.
- Talk About It: Ask your child what they’re learning about the Earth at school and why caring for the environment is important to them.
By working together at school and at home, we can help children develop lifelong habits that protect our planet. Thank you for supporting our Earth Day learning and helping to make our world a greener place!
Happy Earth Day! 💚
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GRADE 5 SCIENCE FAIR STUDENTS
We are very proud of the Grade 5 students at Northern Lights School for their hard work on their Science Fair projects in February. We would also like to congratulate the three students who were selected to represent our school at the Calgary Youth Science Fair by presenting their projects at the Olympic Oval this past weekend. Well done to Martha, Alisha and Evanna!
