Traffic Safety
Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.
Traffic Safety Reminders from The City of Calgary
The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Parents and guardians are reminded not to park where it’s prohibited during drop off and pick up times, such as blocking crosswalks, laneways and private driveways.
Pick up and drop off times can get quite busy. Give yourself extra time to navigate safely around schools, whether you are walking, wheeling, or driving. For those who drive, help alleviate congestion by parking a block or two away and walking in, wherever possible.
Talk to your kids about safe travel practices like using crosswalks with patrols, looking all ways before crossing the street and not jaywalking across the roadways as a shortcut.

Hug & Go
In the morning between 8:56 and students in Kindergarten to Grade 5 can be dropped off in the Hug & Go Zone on the West side of the school. We ask that vehicles pull properly into an available spot, have their children jump out and say goodbye, and then pull out to allow the traffic to flow effectively. This is a 90-second drop off zone. Parents / guardians are not to park or leave their vehicles, and children should not be getting out of a vehicle that is not pulled in beside the sidewalk. Children dropped of in the Hug & Go Zone are to go onto the school playground area where they may play under teacher supervision until the bell rings. This method of drop off is a convenient alternative to trying to find parking on the street at this very busy time of day. We strongly encourage parents of children in Kindergarten to Grade 5 to use the Hug & Go Zone in the morning for drop off as much as possible.
At the end of the day, parents / guardians may stop in the Hug & Go Zone to wait for their children but are asked NOT to leave their vehicles. We also ask that people DO NOT double park. If no space is available to pull into, we ask that drivers continue around the loop until a spot opens up. For safety, at no time should children be getting into a vehicle that is not pulled properly in beside the sidewalk. This loop is NOT supervised at the end of the day, so adults using this loop are asked to act with kindness, respect, and patience; or to park in an alternate spot in the neighbourhood.
Please DO NOT PULL INTO OR PARK in the Staff Parking Lot on the East side of the school, or block our neighbours driveways or garage entrances at any time, either before school, during school or after school.
Morning Supervision
There is no teacher supervision before 8:56 AM. Children are expected to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before bell times in the morning and afternoon.
After School
There is no teacher supervision after school. ALL students are asked to leave the school grounds at 3:44 (Mondays to Thursdays) and 1:05 (Fridays) to check in at home right from school. They should not be returning until after 4:15. If students are wishing to play on the playground after school without returning home, they must be supervised by their parent or guardian. Parents or guardians are responsible for their care after dismissal.
