Mittens

SINGLE COTTON MITTENS, GLOVES OR SOCKS

Students use individual whiteboards during their learning day. To erase the whiteboard marker from the board, we are looking for any cotton single mittens, gloves or socks that might be around your house for us to use as the ‘erasers’. If you have any single lost cotton socks, mittens or gloves, please send them with your child and we will use them.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE DIVERSITY SURVEY

We had 115 families complete our diversity survey. Thanks to everyone that completed it. It has helped us add even more important dates to our calendars so we can help students learn more about each other and what matters in their families.

The winner of the four Telus Spark passes was Aazva in Grade Five. Congratulations to Aazva!

CARDS FOR SENIORS

For the fifth year in a row, classes are creating cards for the seniors over at Newport Harbour Long-Term Care and Assisted Living facility.  Classes read the book, “Share Some Kindness, Bring Some Light” by Apryl Stott for inspiration on how they can spread some kindness. The cards contained messages / words and pictures of hope, love and joy. They will be delivered on Monday and we hope they will bring a moment of happiness to the residents.

Wish Tree

OUR NLS WISH TREES

In our school, we have set up two Wish Trees.  After reading the book, “The Wish Tree” by Kyo Maclear, students engaged in discussions about how generosity can help bring joy to others. They then created a paper wish for the tree that reflected what they hoped for in the world, beyond their own wants. Wishes were written for their families, others in the school, those in the Coventry Hills and Harvest Hills communities, individuals in Calgary, Alberta, Canada or around the world. The wishes now hang on the tree for others to read when they have a moment.  Classes will also be taking some time to read the wishes and discuss how their own actions or positive intentions can help change the world for the better.
