Snow Kit

THANK YOU PARENT FUNDRAISING SOCIETY FOR THE SNOW TOOLS!

We were able to purchase snow fort building kits for use at recess and outdoor learning times thanks to the money provided by the Parent Fundraising Society. Students will be able to use them after our next snowfall to build snow castles, forts, and other structures. They are VERY excited about it!

BEATING THE WINTER BLUES

Long winters can be difficult on our mental health and can contribute to feelings of sadness or loneliness. The good thing is, there are ways to beat the ‘winter blues’. Please see below for a few tips:

Stay active: 30-minutes of exercise helps release endorphins, which have a positive effect on you mind and body.

Focus on healthy eating and good hydration: Drinking lots of water and eating nutrient rich foods helps your brain stay hydrated and your body stay energized.

Enjoy the sunshine: In Calgary, we are lucky to still have a lot of sunshine during the winter months and natural light can help you feel better by helping your body produce Vitamin D.

Get enough sleep: Sleep is critical in having enough energy to get through the day and assists in being able to wake up more easily.

Engage in social activities: Social connections can help you feel more energized.

Express gratitude: Reflecting on what you are grateful for and completing random acts of kindness can help replace negative thoughts with a positive mindset.
