CLASSROOM VISITS WITH ELDER FRANK TURNINGROBE

On Tuesday, Blackfoot Elder Frank Turning Robe of the Siksika Nation began his work in our school with our Grades Two and Three classes. He will continue his work with the remaining grades and classes in April and May.

Elder Frank’s teachings will further build our understanding of Blackfoot culture, history and values; oral storytelling; story robes; and the contributions of Indigenous peoples to Canadian society. Elder Frank will also be using his Pow Wow drum to teach students and staff about the healing power of the drum and how it is an essential aspect of Indigenous culture as it continues the lineage of oral stories passed through the community.

HAVE YOU BOOKED YOUR PARENT / TEACHER / STUDENT CONFERENCE?

The conference booking system is now open through your MyCBE account at https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html. We ask that all families book a 15-minute time slot to connect with the teacher. Students are asked to attend with their parent or guardian during the time booked on either March 21 or 22.

There will not be a book fair during these conferences as our book fair is set to run during our Family Literacy Games Event on Thursday, April 25.
