IMPORTANT REMINDER: AFTER-SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS

Sad child

We have made multiple requests for students to go directly home after school. Students are not to remain on the playground or anywhere on school grounds after dismissal unless they are directly supervised by a parent or guardian.

Unsupervised play after school is leading to serious issues, including peer conflicts, fights, and aggressive behavior. These incidents are disrupting our ability to provide a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment and are impacting teaching and learning the following day.

We need your full support in ensuring that all children leave school property immediately after the bell. Your cooperation is essential to maintaining a safe and caring environment for all students.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

PERSONAL ITEMS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT SCHOOL

Toys

Students are not to bring toys, collectibles, stuffed animals, make-up, or similar personal items to school. These items are a distraction from learning and are causing problems—including being lost, traded, or stolen—which take valuable time away from teaching.

This expectation has been clearly communicated to students multiple times and was also included in a previous edition of the Northern Lights News.

Effective immediately, any such items brought out at school will be collected by staff and held until arrangements can be made for them to be returned to families through a parent or guardian.

We appreciate your support in reinforcing this message at home to help us maintain a focused and respectful learning environment.

Thank you.

FAMILY DANCE DOOR PRIZES

Thank you to families that entered the Door Prize Draw at the family dance. A list of winners will be sent out next week.  All prizes were generously donated by individuals and businesses that wanted to support Northern Lights School families. We send an appreciation shout out to:

WEAR YOUR BEST TO CELEBRATE WORLD DAY FOR CULTURAL DIVERSITY

On Wednesday, May 21, it is World Day for Cultural Diversity. To help celebrate, students and staff are encouraged to dress in clothes they would wear to a family celebration, or in a traditional / cultural outfit to celebrate their culture. This could include wearing something that is important / special to them or their family such as a hat, jewelry, a special shirt, shoes or outfit, etc.
