SAVE THE DATE FOR OUR FIRST FAMILY DANCE
Our Parent Fundraising Society is happy to be planning our first Family Dance for Thursday, June 6 from 6:00 – 8:00. Please watch next week’s Northern Lights News for additional information and details from the parent volunteers that are planning and coordinating!
CUTTING ACROSS THE HUG & GO DRIVEWAY ENTRANCE IS DANGEROUS AND CREATES ISSUES
We ask that both students and guardians walking to AND from school DO NOT cut across the Hug & Go driveway. We realize it takes an extra few minutes to walk around using the pathway on the west side of the school, but this simple step eliminates safety issues and helps ease the traffic issues. We have had two children and one adult who were almost hit this week and three altercations with angry drivers. We appreciate your cooperation!
NEW CASINO FUNDRAISER DATE CONFIRMED
We are excited to announce that NLS has received the information for our next Casino fundraiser. It will be Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October 21 at Ace Airport Casino. Information about how you can volunteer will come out in September, but we are letting families know now so they can save the date to help out. The last casino fundraiser raised approximately $76,000 that has helped to pay busing for field trips, allowed us to have Alien Inline Skating at no cost to families, and purchased things like our Dash Robots, Ozobots, and other coding tools, as well as an incredible amount of guided reading books for students in K-5 to use during their literacy learning time.
*You will not need to be CBE cleared volunteer and you do not have to have a police clearance to volunteer so grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, or friends, etc. can come and help.
A free meal, as well as snacks and beverages are provided. Volunteering will not only help our school, but will allow you to get to know other people from our school community, be with friends, have a fun night out, or have a date night. No experience is needed!
As you plan for helping in October, here is a basic description of the jobs you could sign up for:
GENERAL MANAGER:
Participates in the opening or the closing of the casino. Supervises in the Cash Cage. Witnesses "Cash Outs" from players through Cashier. Fills in for Banker when they are on a break. Covers for all volunteer positions. Requires some knowledge of using a computer.
BANKER:
Fills chip orders as required from the Gaming Floor. Assists General Manager supervising the Cash Cage. Witnesses "Cash Outs" from players through Cashier. Requires some knowledge of using a computer.
CASHIER:

COUNT ROOM SUPERVISOR:
Inputs the count of cash from each cash drop box that is delivered into the count room. Requires some knowledge of using a computer.
COUNT ROOM STAFF:
Open and sorts cash from Drop Boxes so it helps to be good with working with your hands. One person is required to input cash count from each drop box into computer. Runs cash through money machines.
Watch for more information to follow at the beginning of the next school year.
