WEATHER REMINDER AND HUG-N-GO SAFETY

As the weather continues to change, please help your child come to school dressed appropriately for the conditions. Outdoor learning, recess, and daily physical activity are important parts of every school day, so warm clothing, proper footwear, and weather-appropriate outerwear help students stay comfortable and ready to learn.

A friendly reminder that the Hug-N-Go is a no-parking zone. To keep everyone safe and traffic flowing smoothly, please pull forward, have your child exit the vehicle promptly, and then proceed safely out of the Hug-N-Go area. Following these procedures helps reduce morning congestion and backups, especially during inclement weather. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and our mornings running smoothly!

PICTURE RETAKE DAY

We encourage families to take advantage of Picture Retake Day if they are not satisfied with their child's original photo. Whether your child had their eyes closed, wasn't looking at the camera, missed their best smile, or simply wasn't happy with how their picture turned out, retakes are a great opportunity for a new photo.

Please remember that your child's school photo will be used on their report card and other school records, even if you did not order a photo package. For this reason, we encourage families to consider a retake if the original photo does not accurately reflect their child.

If your child requires a retake, please let their teacher know by November 3 which is Retake Day.

As retake times are scheduled throughout the day and can vary, we ask families to do their best to have students arrive at school on time, so they do not miss their opportunity for a new photo.

Thank you for your support in helping us ensure every student has a photo they can be proud of!

Celebrating Diversity at Northern Lights School

Our Northern Lights School community is rich in diverse cultures, traditions, and family experiences. In the coming weeks, many families will be participating in celebrations such as Halloween, Diwali, Métis Awareness Week, and Gurpurab, which often include meaningful traditions centered around light, food, and colour.

We would love to learn more about how your family celebrates. We invite families to share a photo of a family celebration, tradition, or special gathering that highlights light, food, or colour.

Please send photos to Mrs. Sloane (lmsloane@cbe.ab.ca) as soon as you are able.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the light, colour, and food that bring meaning to our traditions and make our Northern Lights School community so vibrant and unique.
