IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES
October 21 – NLS Spirit Wear T-Shirt and Hoodie orders due
October 23-26 – Alien Inline Skating Lessons for students with Mrs. Noftall, Mrs. Joubert, and Miss Wolsey.
October 26 – Popcorn Day for students in K-5 (Orders are due before Sat., Oct. 21 at healthyhunger.ca)
October 27 – Alien inline Skating Lesson for Students with Mrs. Sato, Mrs. Parkhurst, and Mrs. Stewart
October 31 – SPIRIT DAY: Orange/Black Day or Wear a Costume Day
November 2 – Virtual Pumpkin Patch / Fall Family Fun pictures due to Mrs. Brinson for those interested in having their picture in the video
YES, WE WILL BE OUTSIDE THIS WEEK FOR PHYS. ED. AND THE FORECAST IS FOR COLDER WEATHER
We will be outside for Phys. Ed. this week as there is Alien Inline Skating in the gym. The forecast is for snow and temperatures down to -6 degrees. Please take the weekend to dig out warm clothing so your child is prepared and will be warm. Layered clothing, a warm jacket, mittens or gloves, a warm hat, and proper footwear will be very important. (Please send them to school prepared for the weather as we will also be outside prior to school and for our daily recesses.)
HALLOWEEN AT NORTHERN LIGHTS SCHOOL
Classes will be fully engaged in regular learning activities on Tuesday, October 31. (There is no Alien In-Line skating on October 31.)
Students MAY:
- wear their regular clothes
- wear orange and black
- wear a simple costume that does not interfere with learning
Students MAY NOT:
- wear full-face costume masks
- bring costume accessories (ie. weapons)
- wear costumes they are not comfortable in for the day during all learning activities
- wear costumes that interfere with learning time
- spend instructional time putting on costumes or makeup
NORTHERN LIGHTS SCHOOL VIRTUAL PUMPKIN PATCH / FALL FAMILY FUN VIDEO
We will be putting together a video of all of the fall traditions families have. If you would like your family to be included, please send a MAXIMUM of two photos to mlbrinson@cbe.ab.ca on or before November 2.
Pictures can include whatever fall or Halloween activities your family partakes in such as:
- Sitting by a fire
- Camping or hiking
- Raking leaves
- Baking or cooking fall favourite recipes
- Drinking hot chocolate
- Going for a fall walk
- Picking apples
- Visiting a petting zoo
- Visiting Harvest Days or a Harvest Pumpkin Fest
- Attending a football or hockey game
- Designing, carving or dressing up a pumpkin and taking a photo of your family with it
- Dressing up in a costume
- Trick or treating
